How often do you trim your candle wicks? If you said “Never”, it’s time to chat. For the sake of your recently purchased candle, let me school you quickly on the importance of TRIMMING THE WICK.

TRIM CANDLE WICKS TO ¼ INCH PRIOR TO BURNING.

All of Olphactory Candles are double or triple wicked for a reason. We believe in consistency and effectiveness of our candles. Our wicks, wax, and fragrances are tested relentlessly to ensure an even and proper burn.

Trimmed wicks will give you a cleaner and brighter burn. Untrimmed wicks are more likely to take on a weird mushroom-esque shape that dulls and obscures the flame which also produces that black soot. Excessively long wicks are the top cause of those unsightly smoky stains that tend to coat your glass jar candles. Trimming the wick keeps the flame in control and prevents that soot from forming. Once your candle is lit, don't blow it out until the top layer of wax has melted all the way across the container. This might take 2 - 3 hours so sit back, relax, and let your candle work.
